​Outstanding Graduate Student Paper

Graduate students from Arizona universities or working with data collected in Arizona may submit a paper written as a single author or with graduate student colleagues (papers co-authored with faculty advisers are not eligible for consideration).  Prior recipients are ineligible for the award. Submissions should not exceed 15 pages of narrative (references, tables, etc. may be included in appendices). Papers will be evaluated by a panel of AERO members based upon: significance of the topic; purpose of the work; quality of the literature review and theoretical framework, data collection, results/reporting, and analysis; impact of the study; and adherence to APA formatting. Award recipients will be present their work at the AERA Annual Meeting as an exemplar study from Arizona; partial funding is provided to support the awardee's AERA attendance.  When they submit their papers for consideration applicants must confirm that they are willing to attend the AERA Annual Meeting.

​Early Career Researcher Award

​This award is intended to recognize a paper, policy brief or report written by an early career researcher working in Arizona or conducting research about Arizona.  Papers must be single-authored or co-authored with other early career researcher(s).  Researchers with 10 or fewer years in the field are eligible to apply.  Recipients of the Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award may apply for the Early Career Researcher Award two or more years after receiving the graduate student award.  Submissions should not exceed 15 pages of narrative (references, tables, etc. may be included in appendices).  Nominations should also include a resume or CV. The submissions will be rated by a panel of AERO members based upon: significance of the topic; purpose of the work; quality of the data collection, results/reporting, and analysis; and the impact of the study. The award provides a modest stipend to attend a conference or support the awardee's professional development.
