Arizona Educational Research Organization (AERO) Call for Papers

Knowing, Doing and Improving

Changing what we ‘Know’ and ‘Do’ with current educational practices in order to transform ordinary classrooms into extraordinary learning environments where continual ‘Improvement’ of instruction and learning outcomes become the new norm. Creation of a comprehensive P-20 educational system that strategically and effectively utilizes data, research and educators to effectively meet consumer needs is vital for prosperity. Arizona educators must become the guiding coalition that is needed to build the foundation used to create an irreversible educational culture that transcends the existing culture. Successful and effective implementation of Common Core State Standards and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers are some of the changes coming to Arizona’s educational system. Others include, but are not limited to, the use of student growth as a measure for evaluating teachers and principals, and new accountability systems.

Conference participants will engage in investigations in both research and application, entailing advances and reform within educational approaches, settings, theories, and best practices. AERO 2011 will take stock of progress, look to the future and celebrate the broad scope of research and applied work in Arizona’s educational venues.

In addition to papers/presentations/workshops related to the conference theme, submissions are welcome on a wide range of educational topics, including but not limited to: measuring success in schools; educational technology and its application to learning environments; the changing nature of education in the 21st century; distance and online learning; education in nontraditional environments (business, health care, etc.); action research by teachers; educational leadership; and educational research in Arizona schools and settings.
