APEA Joins with AERO for Fall Conference!

For the second year, the Arizona Professors of Educational Administration (APEA) will hold a "conference with-in a conference" on the afternoon of the second day of the AERO conference (Friday, November 9).  The APEA is an affiliate of both the National Council for Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA) and Arizona School Administrators (ASA),

To register for the APEA "conference within a conference," you are required to: a) register for the AERO conference for its entirety or for one day (Friday).  Registration will include the privilege of attending AERO sessions and the AERO Friday luncheon, in addition to APEA sessions, and b) be a member of APEA.  Membership information regarding APEA is available from ASA administrative offices: Margo Spiker, Office Manager - office@azsa.org

Those wishing to submit papers for the APEA "conference within a conference" may submit proposals to the AERO in the normal fashion, but note in their proposal they wish the submission to be reviewed by APEA and presented at a Friday afternoon sessions. Those interested in organizing a symposium may wish to contact Stephen Lawton, APEA President, for assistance. He can be reached at stephen.lawton@asu.edu. APEA will be sponsoring a symposium on a topic yet to be selected and at this stage is soliciting suggestions.

A renewed focus on educational administration by policy makers and the public makes this a timely collaboration between key professionals in schools and universities.  Linking research to action has never been more relevant.

The AERO and Arizona Brown Bag collaborated to host an AIMS Data Review on July 18th at the Glendale Union High School District Media Center. Fifteen participants representing Arizona school district research and assessment directors and staff heard presentations by Dr. Lynne Spiller, of Creighton School District, John Wilson, from the Tempe Elementary School District, and Ellen Dibble, from the Salt River Community Schools.  These tools will are available at the following web site http://brownbag.myedesk.creightonschools.org

Outcomes included hints for preparing AIMS data pivot tables for teachers, graphs for school boards, and assessment information for principals. In addition, the group shared useful guidelines for explaining assessment subgroup results and sub-scores.  Many thanks to our presenters and participants!
